John Swanson's creative vision reveals the divine in the earthly tasks at hand; he infuses the world with a vision of the holy. John writes, "I wanted to portray Mary as a young woman who was close to the Earth, with her feet firmly planted in its soil; who knows poverty; who is a refugee and who understands the labor of those who work the land. I wanted to express the goodness and beauty of Mother earth; and to celebrate a humankind that cares for the Earth and is able to share its bounty."
