John August Swanson HAND-PRINTED SERIGRAPHS
Procession
John August Swanson's 1982 painting of Procession is in the Vatican Museum's Collection of
Modern Religious Art. He considers it the grand work of his life. In 2007 he decided to create a serigraph of the image.
John reflects on his inspiration for Procession, "We, in our communities of faith, are a procession of stories, stories
both unique and shared, stories connected to those who have gone before us and those who will come after us. We gather
in celebration of and respect for each person's story and in expectation and awe of the story we are becoming together.
This is the reality I seek to touch upon in this work."
